Birmingham City have recalled forward Greg Stewart from his loan spell at Kilmarnock. Stewart, who arrived at rugby park in the summer has been an integral part in Killie’s super start to the season that has the Ayrshire side 1 point off the top of the Scottish premiership going in to the winter break. .
Formerly of Dundee and Aberdeen, Stewart returned to the Scottish premiership in the summer. It didnt take long for Stewart to settle in at his new club, he formed a very fruitful partnership with fellow Killie forward Eamonn Brophy that has helped Kilmarnock maintain their amazing run of form under Steve Clarke. A very impressive return of 8 goals and 6 assists in 16 games has been crucial to Kilmarnock.
There is no doubt that this is a blow for Kilmarnock and Steve Clarke will need to find a replacement for Greg Stewart if he is serious about maintaining pace with the old firm at the top of the league. However Clarke has already done a very good job at dealing with the departure of key players after losing Youssouf Mulumbu to Celtic in the summer and still maintaining their excellent form which will give the Killie support hope that he can find a solution to losing Stewart.
